Biography
|
| Brett Hyberger (bass-baritone) Brett’s
operatic repertoire includes many diverse roles from Marcello in La Bohéme,
Leporello in Don Giovanni, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Lindorf and
Schlemil in Les Contes d’Hoffman, Frank in Die Fledermaus, and Grandpa in
The Tender Land to Frederick Egerman in A Little Night Music, Ali Ben Hashim
in Desert Song, and Bill Cracker in Happy End. Brett performed Colline in
Puccini’s La Bohéme and Don Inigo Gomez in Ravel’s L’heure Espagnole with
Lyric Opera Cleveland. In addition, he has performed for Cedar Rapids Opera
Theatre, L’opera Piccola, Light Opera Works, and DuPage Opera. Brett has
been a guest artist with Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and
Lawrence Conservatory in Appleton, Wisconsin. Brett performed the role of
Assan in Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Consul with Portland Opera. He was a
finalist in the 2002 Eleanor Lieber Awards, hosted by Portland Opera. While
in Oregon, he participated in the Education and Outreach program called
Portland Opera Works, a program that introduces the world of opera to Oregon
children. Most recently, Brett has had the opportunity to perform the role
of William Clark in the world premiere of York: The Voice of Freedom, which
is based on the life of the only African-American slave to participate in
the Lewis and Clark expedition. In 2002, Brett was selected as a Regional
Soloist Winner for the Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee, which provided the
opportunity to work with Pennsylvanian composer Richard Wargo. Brett
performed the role of the Mayor in Wargo’s The Pied Piper of Hamelin with
the Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee under the direction of Richard Hynson.
While a professional chorister with the Chicago Symphony Chorus under Dr.
Duain Wolfe, Brett was highlighted as a soloist in Chicago’s Day of Music
Festival and was also chosen as soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
performing Schoenberg’s Moses und Aron in Berlin, Germany under the baton of
Pierre Boulez. |
